Harris Estates is buzzing! We’ve seen the most home sales since the neighborhood was founded in 2007. A warm welcome to all our newest neighbors as we approach our 18th birthday! The Harris Estates HOA was officially signed on November 26, 2007, by developer Jeff Lindsay on a cool, rainy day. Our neighborhood has a fascinating history! Curious to learn more about our amazing community’s past? Explore it online! The narrative is quite captivating, featuring an abandoned road, lucky lottery winners, local farmers, and an Eastern Airline pilot. Originally part of a larger area, we branched out to become Harris Estates – a really unique journey! Read more online on our website here:
Harris Estates Drive and Harris Court Speed Limits
When driving through our neighborhood, it’s crucial to remember that the 25 mph speed limit is a safety measure, not just a suggestion. This limit protects our most vulnerable community members: children and pets. After turning onto Harris Estates Drive, the road’s downward slope increases toward the end of the road. It’s easy to reach excessive speeds within seconds without realizing it. By adhering to the speed limit, you’re not only following the law but also showing respect for your neighbors’ lives and well-being.
Harris Estates Home Improvements
Maintaining your home is an ongoing process. As a reminder, homeowners must submit an Application for Residential Improvement for any modifications to the external appearance of the lot or structure. The ACC Guidelines establish standards for buildings, landscaping, color schemes, exterior finishes, materials, and other similar features. Therefore, approval is required for adding a:
- Tennis court
- Playhouse
- Swimming pool
- Shed
- New Mailbox
- Doghouse
- Garage
- Fence
- Roof Replacement
- Driveway (extension or replacement)
Additionally, exterior painting requires approval if you are changing the color. Living tree removal also requires approval. There other guidelines for other topics in the ACC guidelines that covers vehicle parking, boats, gardens, flagpoles, garbage collection and more.
Submitting an Application for Residential Improvement is really easy. Complete the online form and the ACC will get back with you in the days following. You can read more about the ACC Guidelines and find the ARI form online at :
Until next time, take care and enjoy the cooler temperatures!

Why is it necessary to file an application for roof replacement when you’re not changing the color? That’s no different than exterior painting.
This is an excellent question and I’ve updated the HOA ACC webpage. Homeowners do not need to complete a ARI for simply restoring something to the original color, style, shape, and original building materials. It is helpful to notify the ACC volunteers when a project gives the appearance of a major modification and improvement. We encourage homeowners to reach out to the ACC if your project appears to fall into this category. https://harrisestateshoa.com/acc/
